Not Just Another Cat Eye

Hey Everyone! I'm sorry I've been a bad blogger this month, I've had a lot going on and the days here in Finland are getting shorter and darker, so getting any sort of photos done is a real struggle. I seriously need a studio! You can see how blurry even these photos are, and it I find it quite discouraging and so have not been blogging as much lately.

Here I wanted to try a different winged-liner technique, as I'm finding it harder and harder to achieve a regular one, I think my eyes are starting to sag or something! The nice thing about doing it this way, is that it covers up that whole outer corner area, so it's perfect if you have uneven, hooded or mono-lids, as you still get that cat-eye effect, without relying on your natural eye shape. I love the way the outer edge of this is really sharp and edgy, but then it fades into a soft blend.
I used M.A.C. Quarry eyeshadow all over the lid and the crease, before making my wing with Anastasia Beverly Hills Jet Cream Liner and buffing it out with Royal eyeshadow by Smashbox

On my brows I'm wearing my go-to combo of ABH Brow Wiz in Ash Blonde and Brow Powder Duo in Medium Brown topped off with a slick of her Clear Brow Gel. The lashes are Ardell 113's

My blush is Dame and my lips are Angel, both by M.A.C.

Also, I just wanted to share some great news with you guys. So I have just got a new job as M.A.C.'s Retail Make-Up Artist here in Finland. Our training starts soon, so forgive me if I'm a bit quiet on here for the next while, I'll be a very busy bee! :) Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

Glitter Tears

Hey Everyone! I came up with this look as I was having a little play about the last day. I've been admiring @alyssamarieartistry 's fabulous work on her Instagram, and been particularly intrigued by this upside down triangle sandwiched smoky lower lashline (there's probably easier ways of describing that hahah ) that she does a lot, mainly because I know it doesn't really work on me what with my wrinkly puffy eye bags. However, I do like to push my own boundaries when it comes to my own makeup, and go for colours and techniques that I don't particularly like (on myself) and through this process usually end up loving them.
Here I used mainly M.A.C shadows; Quarry as my upper crease and lower lashline (eye bag) transition shade, Sketch as the main lid colour, Shroom under the brow and Blanc Type in the inner corner. To deepen up Sketch right in the outer-V I used Royal by Smashbox and the colour in the middle of my upper and lower lid is YDK by Urban Decay

I popped a bit of Grimas glitter in the shade 075 on top of YDK on the lower and upper lid in that upside-down triangle shape, kind of like a tear. The lashes are by Eylure.

On my brows I went for my absolute favourite combo of Brow Wiz, Brow Powder Duo and Clear Brow Gel all by Anastasia Beverly Hills.

Hope you like it!

Sienna

Hey Everyone! Happy Halloween! I have for you today a non-Halloweeny look, partly because I like to go against the grain but mainly because I didn't realise that it was today and I already said I'd post details of this on Instagram. Hope you all have something fun planned.

So I did this look a few days ago, not really knowing what I was going for initially, as per usual. I find I come up with the prettiest looks when I dont plan them ahead and just do what I feel like doing that day. On this day I was feeling Sienna from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Maya Mia Palette. It is the most beautiful matte, medium very reddish-brown, so buttery and pigmented.
Skin:
-Nars Sheer Glow Foundation
-M.A.C Pro Longwear Concealer
-M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish Natural
-Anastasia Contour Kit
-Clinique Sunset Glow Blush
-theBalm Mary-Loumanizer

Lips:
-Lumene Wild Rose Lipliner #2
-M.A.C Creme de Nude Lipstick
I used Caramel as my transition shade and Glisten packed on the lid. Inner corner and brow highlight is Blanc Type by M.A.C. On top of Glisten I popped on a bit of Kryolan Glam Sparks in the shade Copper, but you can't really see it, in real life it looked lovely.

I used Loreal Gel Intenza Eyeliner, Lumene Cloudberry Length Serum Mascara and Eylure #145 lashes. Brows are Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Taupe, think I'm finally getting the hang of it!

Hope you like it!

Last Minute Halloween - Angry Cannibal

Hey Everyone! This is a look I came up with a while ago, I really wanted to try out my new Mehron Stage Blood, just to have a play around with it. I was surprised at how sticky it was, I was expecting something a lot runnier. It was a pleasant surprise though, it makes it a lot easier to work with. It says its edible, so naturally I poured a big lump of it right in my mouth for starters. Tastes kind of sugary.

I really had no idea what I was going for with this, I used Mac Cool Grey and Blackberry shadows mainly for the lines and wrinkles and deepened everything up with Anastasia Beverly Hills Deep Brown then. I was really feeling the angry brow that day, and I think this is a versatile, generic Halloween makeup, perfect if you're dressing up as a mad man, witch, demon, cannibal etc. Perfect if you're a bit last minute and don't have a lot of time to get ready. Basically I scrunched up my face in an angry expression and used the shadows and an angled brush to accentuate all the lines and wrinkles that I could see as well as adding some new ones in there.
What's everyone dressing up as this year? Much Love xxx

Aqua Spotlight Smokey Eye Using Maya Mia Palette

Hey Everyone! This is a look I did maybe 5 or 6 weeks ago, hence the darker hair. I cannot even begin to explain the amount of difficulty I've had trying to get this post up for you, lets just say I'm incompetent/incredibly unlucky with technology and I've definitely sprouted a few grey hairs over the stress hahah.

I was dying to use the Aqua shade from the Maya Mia Palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills, but with it being so close to my own eye colour, it's not the most flattering on me. No that's not the right word, I guess it's just a shade that perhaps won't make my eye colour pop the way some of the warmer tones would. I decided to really play up that fact and line the pops of aqua above and below my iris, sandwiched between some smoky colours, I really like the way it turned out.

I buffed some Nude and Warm Taupe (<3) into my crease for a nice transition shade. I then began building up some Caramel mixed with Deep Brown to the inner and outer corner, blending into the crease. I then deepened both corners up with just Deep Brown. I applied some Gosh White Kohl Pencil in the middle of my lid as well as my waterline and lower lashline where I wanted Aqua to go and just pressed it on with a flat brush then. Naturally I used Vanilla to highlight my browbone and inner corner.

The eyeliner (top lashline and waterline) is Jet also by ABH, I used Clinique High Impact Mascara and the lashes are Wispies by Ardell.

On my brows I'm wearing Taupe Dipbrow Pomade.

Guys, I really believe I look ridiculous with an overdrawn lip. I adore this look on other people but I'm just not feeling it on me. What do you think?

Also, I should be back to the old twice a week posting "schedule" now, I gots meself a new laptop. Woop!

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...

Hi Everyone! So this is my first Halloween look for you this year! Very much inspired by the beautiful and incredibly talented @chrisspy, I saw her post a few of these half-skull faces on Instagram and thought they were so cool I just had to recreate it.

I'm not entirely sure what this is supposed to be as a whole, a skull warrior princess perhaps?

Here's the inspiration photo <3

I used Mehron white foundation for the base of the skull part and let me tell you, this shit is hard to work with! It took me several attempts to figure out the best way to apply it to get an even, opaque result, hence the unevenness around the nose etc. I found I had to mix it with the lightest, runniest foundation I had, and apply it with a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.

The dark parts and shading are Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Liner in Jet and Urban Decay Blackout Eyeshadow used with a vast array of pointed liner and angled liner brushes.

On my eyes I used Quarry by Mac as a transition shade, Sugarlite by Sleek in the crease and under the lower lashes and Royal by Smashbox (Blackberry by Mac would work just as well) to deepen up the outer V. I foiled Provocateur from the Urban Decay Vice Palette onto the lid and highlighted my browbone and inner corner with Pow! by Sleek.

I used Gosh White Kohl Pencil along my waterline and liner on top is Loreal Gel Intenza. The top lashes are Eylure No145 and the bottom ones are Ardell 112's

My contacts are by a brand called Magic Color and they're the Super Pink I think. I just got them locally, not sure if they're available online. I kept my brows simple with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz (Ash Blonde) , Brow Powder Duo (Medium Brown) and Clear Brow Gel.

I have a few ideas now on what other looks to do for you guys, also requests welcome!

Mac Coral Bliss & Double Happiness | Swatches & First Impressions

Hi Everyone! I mentioned in my haul post I'd be swatching these bad boys for you, so here they are! My love for peachy pinky nudes continues and this may just be my favourite lip combo ever.

Let's talk about the Cremesheen Glass first, I got the colour Double Happiness, as the title suggests. The Mac website describes it as a "light frosted nude", which I guess is close enough, its very subtle, but gorgeous. I'm not a lipgloss kinda girl, to the point where I can't remember the last time I actually bought one and all the ones I own are gone off. This has rather sheer pigmentation, which I'm totally cool with, and it's fairly sticky, so it's got a bit of staying power, which I like. I mainly got it for layering over my many nudes, pinks and peachy lipsticks.
Next, a lipstick I've been perving on for a while, but never got around to picking up. Coral Bliss is a beautiful creamy, pinky peach, it's a Cremesheen formula, which is my favourite. Again, not the most pigmented lipstick, but it's definitely buildable. I really like having the option to wear it really light and natural, but this can be built up to opaque coverage. The swatch below is 2 layers. The wear time on this isn't fantastic, so touch ups are needed every few hours, but the colour is so close to my own lip shade that it wears down beautifully.
And here's some crappy swatches of the two on the back of my hand. Double Happiness is on the left and Coral Bliss is on the right. Very cheerful names, aren't they? On the bottom right is the two layered, how pretty is this combo?

Have you tried either of these?

Feeling Peachy

Hey Everyone! I had a play around with my new Sleek Ultra Mattes V1 Palette today, and this is the look I came up with. I just dug straight in to the shades that stood out to me and I'm really happy with how it came out, although it's very summer sunset-ish, isn't it? Oh well.

I used Floss (warm baby pink) and Strike (true orange) in the socket and upper crease, Bamm! (bright yellow) in the inner corner and on top of the flick of my liner and Sugarlite (warm purple) in the crease and lower lashline.

On the lid I used Anastasia Beverly Hills Fresh Peach from the Maya Mia Palette. Also from that palette I used Sienna and Deep Brown to add depth to the crease as well as Vanilla and Gold Bar to highlight the inner corner.

I popped on a quick coat of Clinique High Impact Mascara, lined my bottom waterline with Gosh White Kohl Pencil and the lashes are No. 202 by Eylure. I wanted to keep the brows quite natural, so I just filled them in with ABH Brow Powder Duo in Medium and popped on some of their Clear Brow Gel just to set the wee rascals in place.

Guys, I'm so uninspired for halloween looks this year! Any suggestions welcome. Anything that I think of would be cool to try is stuff I should've started prepping for in like June. Ugh.

Haul | Mac, Nars, Sleek, Bourjois & More

Hello Everyone! Sorry it's been another very quiet week on here, I was away to Dublin for a flying visit at the weekend and just didn't get around to posting anything. I did, however, do a bit of shopping whilst I was there, so just wanted to share with you quickly some of the things I got, although I've no doubt you'll be seeing these pop up in future posts. I got a good mixture of high end and drugstore products, some new exciting stuff and some staples I needed to replace.

Let's start with the Mac goodies shall we? I've been on the hunt for a really boring eyeshadow, as weird as that may seem. You know something that's maybe a shade darker than your skintone, super neutral and maybe has a bit of a texture to it? Something that you can just pop on all over the lid to even out skintone but give a bit of definition for everyday? I didn't really own anything like that, so I got my hands on Era, and it's just a perfect neutral, that you don't really even notice on the eyes but makes all the difference. Loving it so far, I've no doubt it'll make an appearance in future looks.

I also got a back-up of Kid, becauseI got an email from Mac saying it will be discontinued, but when I asked the sales assistant, she had no clue. Maybe I dreamt the whole thing up hahah. Oh well, can never have enough Kid in my life anyway.

I also got the Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in the shade Medium, to better match my skintone than the Light I already have. Have you guys seen the new (I actually have no idea when they changed it) packaging for the Mineralize range? I love it, I think it's far sleeker than the old one. Great that you get a mirror in it too.

I also treated myself to two new lip products, a Cremesheen Glass in the colour Double Happiness and a Cremesheen Lipstick in the shade Coral Bliss. I'll have a separate post swatching these bad boys for you.
Other high-end bits I got was the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, which I've had my eyes on for literally years, and finally decided to treat myself to. Thoroughly impressed so far, again, I'll review this for you in a few weeks time, once I have a better feel for it.

The rest are boring, but essential parts of my make-up bag, my trusted Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden and Clinique High Impact Mascara.
I then popped into Boots to stock up on a few goodies that are very hard to come by here in Finland, or where I live anyway. Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum and Healthy Balance Powder were just replacements for ones I'm almost out of, and I couldn't resist the offer on Eylure lashes.

I've been dying to try out a Beauty Blender for ages, but again, quite hard to get your hands on here and they're very pricey. So when I saw the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge for a fraction of the price of a Beauty Blender, it was a no brainer. I've only used it maybe twice so far, but been absolutely loving the result. Not sure if it's down to the sponge or the Sheer Glow, or the combination of the two, but I will find out and report back.
I've never tried Sleek Make Up before, but heard so much about their palettes, I just had to grab one to try. I would've liked to try out the Acids palette I think it's called, but that Boots didn't stock it, so I grabbed this Ultra Mattes V1 Brights Palette instead, which looks good enough to eat, doesn't it? Expect some very bright and colourful looks coming up. I'll do a separate swatches and review on this at a later time too I think.

I think I've got my make-up cravings sorted now for another while, I can't wait to get playing with these. Have you tried any of the mentioned products? Thoughts?

Updated Brow Routine

Hi guys! So I've been getting a lot of questions about my brows on Instagram, so I thought I'd show ya how I do them. It's so simple and straightforward, but I have started using new products, so why not share it.

I have always just used brow powder and/or eyeshadow to fill in my brows, so trying out all these new products has definitely been exciting and a bit of a learning curve. I'll show you how I use the Anastasia Brow Wiz combined with their Brow Powder Duo as it's my favourite way to do my brows right now. I don't think I've quite mastered the art of using the Dipbrow Pomade just yet, still very much experimenting with it, so I might do a post on that later.

So without further ado, here's a little before and after of my brows, so as you can see, the finished result is quite natural looking but still polished and defined, just the way I like them.

I have managed to grow my brows to a shape I'm happy with, so thankfully I don't have too much to correct par a few sparse areas. When it comes to grooming, I just tweeze and trim them. I really like the combination of the pencil and brow powder, as the powder can cling on to the waxy texture, whilst setting the pencil in place, so the two just marry together really nicely. I also like using both just on their own if I'm in a rush and set the hairs with the ABH Clear Brow Gel which I'm obsessed with.

So I first lay down the pencil, concentrating on sparse areas, the tail of the brow which I like to extend a little as well as map out the general shape. Some people don't like defining the top part of the brow, but everybody's different, I find it flattering on me. The shade I use is Ash Blonde, although Soft Brown I can get away with too.

I then go in with the Brow Powder Duo in the shade Medium Brown with the number 12 brush. Has any of you tried this brush? Oh my. I'm gonna have to order about a gazillion more of them, best angled brush I've ever tried. So I use the lighter side of the brow powder, and just fill in all the rest. I go heavier handed at the tail of the brow and get lighter and lighter as I near the front. Then I just take the spoolie at the other end of the brush and really buff the products in.

Then I finish off with a lick of the Clear Brow Gel, et voila!

Eeep, bare eye!

Oh and here's my new kitty cat MeiMei using my palettes as a fine viewing tower. I didn't even get mad that she squashed it hahah.

Mascate

Hi Everyone! Seeing as everybody's whipping out their rich autumn lippies, I thought I'd join the party until I realised I own virtually no dark lip colours! I'm not a lips kinda girl anyway, I hate the feel of pretty much anything except balm on my lips. I play it very safe with my lip shades, always going for the same peachy/pinky/nude that goes with everything. So if you have any suggestions for nice wintery shades to help me get out of this lip rut I'm finding myself in, please let me know!

So as I was rummaging through my makeup bag for ideas of what kind of look to do today, I stumbled upon my old friend, Nars Mascate. The perfect matte, vampy red. It's been so long since I did a full on pin-up look, and I'm quite pleased with how this came out.

I probably should've scrubbed my lips a bit more before applying this, here you can see all my dryness in all it's glory, sorry about that. This picture was taken outside in natural light, and the colour is turning out way brighter and lighter than how it looks in real life.

I paired it with a super simple eye look, a thick-ish winged liner and lashes.

I used the shade Nude from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Maya Mia Palette all over the lid as a base and Warm Taupe to define the crease and the lower lashline too. I'm obsessed with Warm Taupe, it's literally become my favourite eyeshadow, I can't think of a look I won't be using it in to be honest. And it's a good job because apparently Mac are discontinuing my beloved Kid eyeshadow, if I didn't have Warm Taupe, I'd be crying myself to sleep at night.

Okay, back to this look, I popped Vanilla from the same palette into the tearduct for a pop. I highlighted my browbone with Pick Me Up from the Mac Cool Neutrals Palette and also popped a bit of Sweet Allure from the same palette, just in the middle of the moving lid with my finger.

The liner is Jet by ABH, which I'm still experimenting with. I find the formula a tad on the dry side, which can make it hard to get an even line with as it drags the skin a bit, but maybe I should just try a different brush with it. The staying power and pigmentation of that is amazing though. The lashes are by Kiss, I can't mind the name.

Brows are ABH Brow Wiz in Soft Brown, Brow Powder Duo in Medium Brown (lighter side) and their Clear Brow Gel.

Here's me trying to pose all seductively and what not.

Just gonna sit around the house now for the rest of this cloudy Sunday, watch some Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and chill the beans looking very fancy.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend
