Food Experiment: Veg Lasagne & Bruchetta

Hi Everyone! I got off work early today and decided to do something different (no make-up tutorial this week guys!) I've wanted to try making vegetarian lasagne for ages now, but never really had the time or patience. Turns out it wasn't hard to make at all (just very time consuming, with all the prep work) and it was delicious. I find myself eating a pescetarian diet mainly, but by no means strictly, I just don't really like meat or poultry that much. That said, I think anyone, vegetarian or not, will like this, I even got my boyfriend who refuses to eat mushrooms, tomatoes or any funny-looking veggies, to finish his plate :) this isn't going to be a tutorial as such, but I'll take you through what I used etc. The bruchetta came about because the ciabatta bread was on offer in the shop and I decided to make that as a side. It alone would make a yummy lunch, if you had time to make it. Let me know what you think in the comments!
The Ingredients: Onion, Garlic, Peppers, Celery, Courgettes, Aubergine, Tomatoes, Mushrooms, Lasagne Sheets, Dolmio Bolognese Sauce and White Sauce (Im no gordon ramsay ok?). I thought at first I may have too many different flavours going on, but it was amazing.
I fried the veggies on a low heat in a wok (it was the only thing big enough) cooking the hardest veg first (onion, celery, peppers etc) and gradually added in the rest. Herb wise, I very liberally threw in black pepper, paprika, oregano(nomnomnom), basil, coriander, pretty much whatever I fancied. It was an experiment after all. When everything was softened up I threw in the tomato sauce (tinned chopped tomato is fine too, but I got a deal on the two sauces together :)
I composed the rest just like normal lasagne and sprinkled some grated red cheddar and mozzarella mix on top, baked it in the oven for 40 mins, et voila!
Now for the side dish, I used some Ciabatta Bread, Pesto, Cheese (mozzarella and cheddar mix), Tomatoes, Garlic, Basil, Oregano (nomnomnom) and Olive Oil. Any bread will do, I just happen to love ciabatta.
I chopped the tomatoes and garlic and threw in the herbs and oil and covered with cling film and let it marinate in the fridge for an hour (the smell is amazing!). I cooked the ciabatta, slapped on some on the tomato mix ( I kinda ran out) and sprinkled cheese on top and cooked it for another 3 mins.
I suppose this should be served with babyleaf or some shite, but I was so hungry at this stage I just wanted to dig in! What do you think? Will you try it out? :)

Monday Lip Swatch: Kate Moss for Rimmel 003

Hi Everyone! This week's swatch is #003 from the Kate Moss collection for Rimmel. This is the nudest shade in the range, and I bought mine the last day on a whim (coz I just don't have enough nude lippies in my collection :P) This is actually one of the darkest nudes I own, I tend to go for the palest of the pale shades, and I was pleasantly surprised by how wearable this is, I'm always afraid of looking too nineties with a brown toned lip colour. This is nice because its not so pale as to make you look like death warmed up, but it's still subtle enough to not compete with the rest of your make-up. And it doesn't make teeth look awfully yellow, which is always good. Have you tried this?

Taupe & Aubergine Night Time Cat Eyes

Hi Everyone! I wanted this week's tutorial to be a little bit different, and I was determined not to use warm peachy colours :). I used the Smashbox Girls on Film Smokebox to create this look, I hope you like it!
I applied UDPP all over the lid as a base. A dark creamy base would work too, for a more intense look.
The first colour I used was Putty, a shimmery taupe shade and I patted it all along the moving lid, leaving the inner corner free.
Next, on the same flat brush, I took a little bit of Mist, and applied in the inner third of the lid.
On a pencil brush, I took the colour Royal, a deep matte aubergine/eggplant shade and smudged it along the lashline quite thickly, almost in a winged-liner shape. The colour didn't show up the way it looks in the pan, I presume thanks to the Putty shade underneath.
I applied some of the highlight shade, Bliss, to the browbone and tearduct.
On a flat stubby brush I took a little more Royal and applied under the lower lashes, mainly keeping to the outer half and connecting with the wing.
I used Inglot gel liner #77 to line the top lashline, the water line and take the two to a point in the inner corner for that feline look.
Gosh Show Me Volume Mascara.
Ardell 120's. I also filled in my brows with the Gosh Brow Kit. Et voila!

Review: Clinique High Lengths Mascara

Hi Everyone! I've been trying out this mascara for a few weeks and I figured I'd share my thoughts on it.
First of all, the packaging is nice and simple, typical Clinique. Very hard to photograph mind :).
Now, The Wand. It's a comb-style wand (or "willow" as the wbsite describes it) which looks kind of scary to be honest. It is however, super easy to use and I don't end up with blobs on my eyelid and it separated the lashes beautifully.
The downside: I find the poison green that peeps out through the mascara positively repulsive. It looks like snot or bile or something equally disgusting. Why not just make a nice black wand?
No mascara.
2 coats of High Lengths. It does what it says on the tin: makes my lashes look long, lovely and separated. It's not for those of you who like the "fake-lash" look, to me this is the perfect day-time mascara. Also it lasts really well and is easy to take off at night. Definitely a winner for me. 4/5

Monday Lip Swatch: Clarins Rosy Coral

Hi Everyone! This week's swatch is Clarins Rouge Prodige True Colour & Shine Lipstick in Rosy Coral.
Apologies for the flashy photo, it's the only way I could get the colour to look the way it does in real life. This is a beautiful easy-to-wear summer colour and I'm totally in love with it at the moment. Its the perfect peachy-pink, and its sheer but buildable and very moisturizing. I don't think it has quite the staying power it claims on the Clarins website, but it's one of those 'I don't need a mirror to touch-up' shades :) And if you like nice smelling lip products, you'll love this, it's deliciously fruity. This is a very petty complaint but when I read the name of the lipstick, I think of porrige (Prodige) hahah.

Spring Sunset Inspired Eyes Tutorial

Hi Everyone! So I was happy out doing this tutorial, feeling good about actually getting something done, and I go to edit the photos, and I realize this is like the 100th look I've done with these same type of colours! What's wrong with me? I guess I automatically veer towards these shades because they suit me, but it must be very boring lol. Apologies. Hope you like it anyway :) The inspiration:
I began by applying uDPP all over the lid. On a flat brush I picked up some Mac Mineralize Eyeshadow in In the Sun and applied it over the moving part of the lid.
Next on a large blending brush, I took some Inglot 368 and washed it softly in the socket and under the lower lashes.
I used Skimp from the urban Decay Mariposa palette as my inner corner and browbone highlight.
I ran Avon SuperShock Gel Liner along my top lashes and tightlined. Don't worry about it being neat, were going to smudge it out.
Taking an angled brush and Inglot 63, I smudged the liner around and created a slightly winged shape.
I ran more SuperShock on the waterline and used the remaining product on the brush to blend it through the lashes.
Clinique High Impact Mascara.
I filled in my brows using the Gosh Brow Kit.
Ardell Wispies- used once before.
On my cheeks I wore Mac Well Dressed and on my lips I had on Smashbox Lipgloss in Pout.
