Books Books Books

Hey everyone, I thought I'd do something a little bit different today (or night i should say), I mean this isn't strictly a beauty blog, it's just what mostly occupies my mind haha. So Im going to show you my favourite books! I love reading, I love getting absolutely sucked into books that you cant put down, which is also a con because I tend to start a lot of books but if im not immediately consumed then I dont usually finish the book either. And why should I?
This habit is also a con in that once I start a book, I become more or less incapable of doing anything but reading. So its kind of inconvenient when I need to go to work etc.

So my most recent read was The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I heard about this book somewhere on youtube (I have like a youtube addiction or something) and it was really good. It's the first part of a trilogy (I ordered the second book, Catching Fire on amazon today) and the story is very much unlike anything I've ever read before (when you see my other all time faves you'll understand why) but I was stuck to the book for 2 days, only torn away when the boyfriend protested that I need to shower badly hahah. I'm not going to go into too much info on the plot but to give you a basic summary, the story is set in the near future (no specific dates but I would guess maybe 100 years from now?) where a terrifying reality tv show is taking place. 24 contestants between the ages of twelve and eighteen are put into an arena and forced to fight til the death and the last person standing will win. It is so exciting and nerve wracking, I just couldnt stop reading. Amazing. Cant wait to get my hands on the sequel.

My next favourite book is The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson. This book is a strange and beautiful love-story between an ex-porn star severe burns victim and a woman who he'd never met before his accident, who claims to know him from a past life. The story takes you from a medieval monastery in Germany to a meth lab in some californian trailer park, and right down to hell itself. Fascinating read, I recommend this to anyone, its surprisingly witty too, which I love. I'm eagerly waiting for Davidson to release something else.

The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. These books are what started my erratic reading pattern from the age of 13. I dont think I need to go into too much detail on this one, I mean I dont know anyone who hasnt heard of or read Harry Potter. My favourite Potter book? Prisoner of Azkaban. I still can't really understand how the time turner thing works haha.

The Twilight Saga. Yes I know Stephenie Meyer could have improved the writing and yes its kind of corny or whatever but I FUCKING LOVE IT. To me twilight was such an amazing escape into this dream world, where you are amazingly beautiful, strong, and fast and when you fall in love, youre in love forever. My favourite book of the series is Eclipse I think, because the love triangle between Bella, Edward and Jacob and the way the characters react to it all, defines true love to me. How Edward tells Bella he'll always be waiting for her if she chooses to be with Jacob, and how he refrains from hurting him because it would hurt her. I cant personally relate to the situation, but that sacrifice to me is Love. And then it doesnt matter that he's a vampire. If any book had a love story like that in it i would rave as much about it as I did about Twilight.

Nicholas Sparks. Yes I know he's the author not a book, but because I have not yet read a book of his that has not blown me away, I'll just include them all. My favourite is A Walk To Remember, its so sad, and so filled with love (god i am such a wuss!) that it breaks my heart everytime I read it. In a good way.

So yeah, this has turned into a rather long post.. A question: Do you prefer to read online, get books from the library or do you actually buy books? Because I love buying books, I like having something to hold and to have it on my shelf, par of my little collection.. :) Anywhoo, hope you have a great wednesday, and feel free to comment below! Love xxx

  1. I love buying books, but I got a Kindle for Christmas! It's pretty bloody awesome. I'll still buy physical books, but now I have an excuse to buy more art and photography books!

  2. The only ones I have read from your list is Harry Potter. I love books. I'm reading more non-fiction than fiction these days ago.
I agree with you. I love buying books too. I borrow from the library sometimes but if it's a book I know I'd always want to read then I would buy it. Nothing beats lovely, papery books.

I appreciate all your feedback, let me know what you think, make suggestions, ask questions, I'll try to reply to any queries :) Much Love xx
